Marlena Phillips

Marlena's singing career began in school in Milford, NH, where she passionately enjoyed singing, accordion, xylophone, self-taught piano & harmonica. She was active in every choral and band group the schools offered, earning top spots every year in AllState and All-Eastern Seaboard Choir. She traveled & sang extensively with the Showstoppers Orchestra & Show Band throughout the mid eighties.
Marlena was awarded a full tuition scholarship to the UMKC Conservatory of Music, where she studied for one year, majoring in voice and accordion. While at UMKC, she was chosen for Select Jazz Choir under the direction of Eve Mae Pisciotta, and recorded an album with the choir in 1985. At UMass Lowell, she majored in Music Business and took voice and sound recording classes. In addition to studying counseling psychology for a year at Boston college, and then completing a Bachelor's in Psychology at UNH, Marlena continued her music studies with the best private vocal teachers she could find in Boston, while singing steadily for 25+ years, and still going strong.
Marlena's commercial jingles and original songs have been aired on the radio, she has worked as a studio session singer, has taught privately, and sung most styles of music in several bands. Marlena is currently working on her second album of original music. She is also studying piano again, and learning guitar.
